UTC+0
UTC+0, also written as UTC+00:00, is a time offset with no difference from Coordinated Universal Time. When it is 12:00 UTC, the local time in a UTC+0 area is also 12:00.
Use
[edit | edit source]UTC+0 is used as a standard time in parts of Europe and Africa, including some Atlantic coastal and island areas. It is commonly connected with Greenwich Mean Time and Western European standard time.
Some areas use UTC+0 throughout the year. Other areas use it during standard time and move to UTC+1 when daylight saving time is active.
Time calculation
[edit | edit source]UTC+0 is calculated by applying no offset to Coordinated Universal Time. The offset does not add or subtract hours from UTC.
For example, 08:00 UTC is 08:00 in a UTC+0 area. 23:00 UTC remains 23:00 in a UTC+0 area.
Daylight saving time
[edit | edit source]Some regions that use UTC+0 during standard time change to UTC+1 during daylight saving time. This makes UTC+0 the winter or standard-time offset in those places.
Regions that do not observe daylight saving time remain on UTC+0 unless the legal time zone is changed.
