UTC+1

From the Vrienden Universe, a fictional wiki

UTC+1, also written as UTC+01:00, is a time offset that is one hour ahead of Coordinated Universal Time. When it is 12:00 UTC, the local time in a UTC+1 area is 13:00.

UTC+1 is used as a standard time in parts of Europe and Africa. It is commonly connected with Central European Time and West Africa Time.

In Europe, UTC+1 is used by several countries during standard time. During daylight saving time, many of these areas move to UTC+2.

Time calculation

[edit | edit source]

UTC+1 is calculated by adding one hour to Coordinated Universal Time. The offset does not describe a country or region by itself. It only describes the difference between local time and UTC.

For example, 08:00 UTC is 09:00 in a UTC+1 area. 23:00 UTC is 00:00 on the next day in a UTC+1 area.

Daylight saving time

[edit | edit source]

Some regions use UTC+1 only during standard time. In those places, the offset changes to UTC+2 when daylight saving time is active.

Other regions use UTC+1 throughout the year. In those places, the offset remains the same unless the legal time zone is changed.
