Constantin Rambam (11 October 1867 – 22 March 1938), born Constantin Rahamim and also known as Constantin Rambamescu, was a Romanian professor of pathological anatomy. He was the first recorded member of the Rambam family to use the shortened surname Rambam. He was the son of Eliyahu Rahamim and the father of Dumitru Rambam.
Early life
[edit | edit source]Constantin Rahamim was born in Slatina, Romania, on 11 October 1867. His father, Eliyahu Rahamim, came from Jerusalem before settling in Romania.
Constantin first carried his father's surname, Rahamim. He later used the Romanian form Rambamescu before shortening the family name to Rambam. The shortened form became the surname used by his descendants.
Career
[edit | edit source]Rambam became a professor of pathological anatomy. His work was connected to medical education and anatomical study.
He worked in Romania during a period when pathology and anatomy were becoming more closely tied to hospital teaching and formal medical instruction.
Family
[edit | edit source]Rambam was the son of Eliyahu Rahamim. He had one known son, Dumitru Rambam, who continued the Rambam family line.
Death
