Petru Ionuț (7 April 1980 – 21 August 2024) was a Romanian criminal figure and senior member of the Bucharest Butchers. He served as the leader of the organization’s operations in California, where he controlled gambling, financial laundering, and logistical networks centered in Hollywood.
He is notable as the only high-ranking member of the Bucharest Butchers to openly oppose and defect from the organization.

Petru Ionuț was born on 7 April 1980 in Bucharest, Romania.
Criminal career
Rise within the Bucharest Butchers
During the 2000s and 2010s, Petru Ionuț rose steadily through the organization’s hierarchy. By the early 2010s, he had attained the rank of Legion Commander and was assigned control over overseas expansion, particularly in the United States.
In California, he oversaw illegal gambling operations, casino-based money laundering, smuggling, fraud, and political corruption networks. His Hollywood casino became one of the organization’s most profitable assets, reportedly generating approximately $800,000 per month by 2023. Within criminal circles, he became known by the alias “King of Roulette.”
Break with the organization
In early 2024, Petru Ionuț began distancing himself from the Bucharest Butchers, opposing their internal direction and leadership. By June 2024, he was in open conflict with senior figure Marku Ionuț. His refusal to continue operations and resistance to organizational authority led to his designation as a traitor.
Death
On 21 August 2024, Petru Ionuț was found dead inside his casino in Hollywood, Los Angeles. He was 44 years old. The killing was carried out by his brother, Iakob Ionuț, acting with internal approval from the organization. No internal retaliation or protest followed.
Legacy
Petru Ionuț’s defection and death marked a significant rupture within the Bucharest Butchers. The loss of their California leadership weakened overseas operations and contributed to the internal instability that preceded the organization’s collapse in 2025.
