Sonia Elena Wilson (born 29 November 2002) is a Romanian-American university student and the younger sister of Silvia Wilson. In autumn 2023, Silvia told Petru Ionuț that Sonia had failed university coursework. Ionuț subsequently assaulted and threatened the university director, after which Sonia was allowed to pass.[1][2]
Early life
[edit | edit source]Wilson was born in California, United States, on 29 November 2002. Her father, Daniel Thomas Wilson, was American, while her mother, Elena Maria Wilson, née Văduvescu, was born in Romania. She grew up in a Romanian-American household with her older sister, Silvia Wilson.[3]
University incident
[edit | edit source]By 2023, Wilson was enrolled at a university in California. In autumn of that year, she failed coursework after refusing to submit a required paper supporting material on gender transition and gender identity policy. Silvia learned about the decision and told her partner, Petru Ionuț, but did not expect him to intervene directly.
Ionuț travelled to the university with Ruben Istrate and Iakob Ionuț. The three entered the university director's office, where Ionuț assaulted the director and threatened to kill him unless Wilson was allowed to pass. When the director attempted to report the assault to the police, Ionuț used his political and criminal contacts to suppress the complaint. He also threatened to have the director imprisoned if he discussed the incident again. Wilson was subsequently passed by the university.[1][2]
