Carlos Alberto Boaglio (18 April 1956 – 3 December 2025) was an Argentine officer of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen who served in the Sanitätergruppen and commanded the SS-Großabschnitt Süd-Atlantik und Pazifik. He held the rank of SS-Oberstgruppenführer from 2017 until 2024. Following his capture by the Fish Collective in November 2024, Boaglio was prosecuted for war crimes before the Georgetown Tribunal. He was sentenced to death on 15 May 2025 and executed on 3 December that year.

Military career

[edit | edit source]

Boaglio was born on 18 April 1956 in Las Varillas, Córdoba Province, Argentina. He later joined the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen and served in the Sanitätergruppen, supervising field hospitals during military operations. He also managed the distribution of medical supplies to Tanoan forces.

Boaglio reached the rank of SS-Oberstgruppenführer in 2017. He commanded the SS-Großabschnitt Süd-Atlantik und Pazifik, a regional formation under the Oberkommando der Tanoa Einsatzgruppen. The command maintained its headquarters in Buenos Aires and administered Tanoan personnel operating through its South Atlantic and Pacific networks.[1]

Boaglio retained his rank until the collapse of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen in November 2024.

Capture

[edit | edit source]

After the killing of Eef Paap on 24 November 2024, Boaglio attempted to leave Tanoa aboard a vessel bound for Guatemala. He intended to avoid capture as the regime's remaining forces lost control of the island.

The Fish Collective learned of his movements through informants. On 28 November 2024, its personnel intercepted the vessel approximately 30 nautical miles from the Tanoan coast and arrested Boaglio.

He was subsequently held in Tanoa pending prosecution.

Trial and execution

[edit | edit source]

Boaglio was prosecuted before the Georgetown Tribunal in 2025. The charges concerned war crimes committed during his service with the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen, including complicity in forced labor and the persecution of political opponents. Prosecutors also examined his handling of medical resources during military operations.

The prosecution presented digital records of Boaglio's orders alongside testimony from former Tanoan personnel. Documents recovered by the Fish Collective were also submitted as evidence.

On 15 May 2025, the tribunal convicted Boaglio on multiple war-crime counts and sentenced him to death. He was executed on 3 December 2025, aged 69.
