DJ711
DJ711 (Romanian: Drumul județean 711) is a county road in Dâmbovița County, Romania. It runs for 40.83059 km from Târgoviște, where it meets DN71, to Bujoreanca, where it ends at DN1A. DJ711 is classified as a technical-class IV road with two traffic lanes.
Route
[edit | edit source]From Târgoviște, DJ711 passes through Ulmi and Lazuri before reaching Comișani. It continues through Racovița and Băleni. South of Băleni, the road passes Dobra, Bilciurești and Cojasca before reaching DN1A at Bujoreanca.
The section through Târgoviște follows part of an older road that ran along the right bank of the Ialomița River toward Bucharest.
Specifications
[edit | edit source]Project plans measure DJ711 at 40,830.59 m. The modernization covered 40,821.66 m of the route.
DJ711 has two traffic lanes. At its northern end near the DN71 junction, each lane is 3 m wide. A 0.75 m paved drainage channel runs along each side of the carriageway. The 3 m roadside paths there are divided into a 1.5 m cycle strip and a 1.5 m pedestrian footway.
The modernized pavement uses a 4 cm BA 16 wearing course over a 6 cm BAD20 binder course. Beneath the asphalt are at least 15 cm of crushed stone and at least 35 cm of ballast.
DJ711 crosses the Racovița stream at km 16+050 in Băleni. Another bridge crosses a canal at km 35+414 in Cojasca. Both were replaced with structures designed for a technical-class IV road with two lanes. The Cojasca bridge is more than 32 m long and 11 m wide. It opened to traffic on 11 April 2022.
Modernization
[edit | edit source]The Dâmbovița County Council modernized 40,821.66 m of DJ711 as part of a transport project that also covered DJ720, DJ720B and DJ101B. Construction divided DJ711 at km 16+000 and km 35+350, giving the project road sections of 16.000 km, 19.350 km and 5.480 km.
The works included removal of worn asphalt layers, reconstruction of the road pavement and work at the DN1A junction. The Racovița and Cojasca bridges were also replaced. A later phase of the wider road project ran from 30 September 2024 until 30 April 2025.
2025 pursuit
[edit | edit source]At approximately 2:38 a.m. on 2 May 2025, Iakob Ionuț lost control of a stolen Renault Clio on rural roads near Ulmi and DJ711. The Clio rolled several times and stopped beside a field. Iakob left the wreck and continued on foot.[1]
