Nicolae Rambam (19 August 1926 – 11 April 2015) was a Romanian banker, bartender, and criminal. He was born in Bucharest, worked in Hungary, and returned to Romania after becoming involved in illegal gambling and corrupt banking activity. He later worked as a bartender in Slatina.
Early life
[edit | edit source]Nicolae Rambam was born in Bucharest, Romania, on 19 August 1926. His father was Dumitru Rambam. He grew up in Bucharest before leaving Romania as a young adult.
Career
[edit | edit source]In 1946, Rambam moved to Hungary. He found work in banking and became a junior bank employee in 1948. His work involved accounts, cash handling, and customer records.
Rambam worked as a banker in Hungary from 1948 to 1952. During this period, he became involved in illegal gambling and corrupt banking activity. His gambling debts grew, and he used his banking position to hide small money movements and settle debts through corrupt contacts.
In 1952, Rambam fled Hungary and returned to Romania. He settled in Slatina, Olt County. From 1953 to 1974, he worked as a bartender in small local bars.
Personal life
[edit | edit source]Nicolae Rambam was married to Mariana Popescu. They had three children: Viktor Rambam, Mircea Rambam, and Elena Rambam.
He lived in Slatina after returning from Hungary. He died there from a heart attack on 11 April 2015.
