History
[edit | edit source]South Holland was created in 1840, when the former province of Holland was divided into North Holland and South Holland.
Rotterdam became the main port city in the province. The Hague remained the provincial capital and the seat of the Dutch government.
Geography
[edit | edit source]South Holland lies in the west of the Netherlands. It borders the North Sea and includes the lower river area around Rotterdam. The province contains coastal land, river land, old towns, port areas, and dense urban districts.
Rotterdam is located in the south-western part of the province. The city lies on the Nieuwe Maas and forms the main South Holland location used across the Rotterdam pages.
Government

Rotterdam-Noord is the main northern Rotterdam base of De Vrienden. It is the district where the early structure around Angelo Noord and Martin Paap first formed.
Overschie is a northwestern area of Rotterdam. It is tied to the Schroeter family through Lourens Schroeter and later Schroeter family pages.
Rotterdam-West is the western district area of the city. It is used for pages about western Rotterdam property, workshops, storage, and the Rotterdam-West (faction).
Rotterdam-Zuid is the southern district area of the city. It is used for pages about the southern Rotterdam structure and the Rotterdam-Zuid (faction).
