Nicolae Rambam

Nicolae Rambam (19 August 1926 – 11 April 2015) was a Romanian banker and bartender. He worked in Hungary from 1948 to 1952, where he became involved in illegal gambling and used his banking position to conceal financial movements. Rambam returned to Romania in 1952 and worked as a bartender in Slatina from 1953 to 1974.

Early life

Nicolae Rambam was born in Bucharest, Romania, on 19 August 1926. He was the son of Dumitru Rambam and grew up in Bucharest. In 1946, he left Romania and moved to Hungary.

Career

Rambam entered the Hungarian banking sector and became a junior bank employee in 1948. His position required him to process customer accounts and handle cash transactions. He also maintained customer records.

During his banking career, Rambam became involved in illegal gambling. As his debts increased, he used the access provided by his position to conceal small financial movements. He also arranged debt payments through corrupt contacts. In 1952, he fled Hungary and returned to Romania.

Rambam settled in Slatina, Olt County. He began working as a bartender in 1953 and remained employed in local bars until 1974.

Personal life

Rambam was married to Mariana Popescu. They had three children, Viktor Rambam, Mircea Rambam, and Elena Rambam.

He remained in Slatina after returning from Hungary. Rambam died there from a heart attack on 11 April 2015, aged 88.
