The Amt für Außenpolitische Angelegenheiten (English: Office for Foreign Political Affairs) was a central political office of the NSTAP within the Government of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen. It was responsible for the party's external political affairs, foreign liaison, and coordination of political contact beyond Tanoa. Within the structure of the regime, it formed part of the NSTAP central office system while operating inside the broader government apparatus.
History
[edit | edit source]The office was established in 1944 during the formation of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen and the creation of the NSTAP as the ruling political party. It emerged as part of the early party apparatus built to organize political administration, ideological control, and coordination between the leadership of the regime and its state institutions.
As the political structure of the regime expanded, the Amt für Außenpolitische Angelegenheiten remained within the central office framework of the NSTAP. It developed as the office responsible for external political communication and foreign-facing party coordination.
Organization
[edit | edit source]The Amt für Außenpolitische Angelegenheiten was one of the central offices of the NSTAP. In the party structure, it stood alongside offices such as the Parteiamt für Politische Führung, the Amt für Ideologische Schulung, the Amt für Propaganda und Öffentlichkeitsführung, and the Amt für Regionale Politische Verwaltung.
Functions
[edit | edit source]The office handled the external political affairs of the NSTAP and supported the regime's broader foreign political coordination. Its functions included maintaining political contact outside Tanoa, preparing external correspondence, supervising party communication connected to overseas networks, and assisting the political leadership in matters involving foreign organizations, aligned intermediaries, and external messaging.
It also served as a coordinating point between the party leadership and state administration in external matters. In this role, it formed part of the wider system through which the NSTAP linked ideological leadership with government institutions.
Role within the regime
[edit | edit source]Within the Government of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen, the Amt für Außenpolitische Angelegenheiten functioned as the principal party office for external political affairs. It belonged to the wider government structure of the regime while remaining institutionally part of the NSTAP apparatus.
Its place in the regime reflected the broader relationship between party and state under the Tanoa system, in which political offices of the NSTAP worked directly alongside administrative, military, and security institutions. The office's position showed how external political coordination was handled through the party structure instead of through an independent civilian foreign ministry.
Dissolution
[edit | edit source]The Amt für Außenpolitische Angelegenheiten ceased operations during the collapse of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen in November 2024. With the death of Eef Paap, the breakdown of central authority, and the dissolution of the NSTAP party structure, the office ended together with the rest of the regime's political administration. It formally ceased to exist on 30 November 2024.
