The Amt für Regionale Politische Verwaltung (English: Office for Regional Political Administration) was a central political office of the NSTAP within the Government of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen. It was responsible for regional political administration, territorial coordination, and communication between the party leadership and regional authorities under the control of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen.

The office formed part of the NSTAP central office system and operated inside the wider government structure of the regime. Its work focused on the political supervision of territories, regional administrative reporting, and the coordination of directives sent from Georgetown to regional command structures.

History

[edit | edit source]

The office was established in 1944 during the early formation of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen and the creation of the NSTAP as the ruling political party. In its first years, it functioned as a party office for organizing political administration on Tanoa and for maintaining contact between the central leadership and local administrative officials.

As the regime expanded, the Amt für Regionale Politische Verwaltung became responsible for broader territorial coordination. It supported the development of regional political offices, administrative reporting systems, and local party structures connected to the NSTAP.

Its role increased after the establishment of the Regional Großabschnitte system under Eef Paap in 1980. The creation of regional commands such as SS-Großabschnitt Afrika, SS-Großabschnitt Europa, SS-Großabschnitt Nord-Atlantik, SS-Großabschnitt Asien, and SS-Großabschnitt Süd-Atlantik und Pazifik required a central office to coordinate political administration across separate territories. The Amt für Regionale Politische Verwaltung became the main party office responsible for this coordination.

Organization

[edit | edit source]

The Amt für Regionale Politische Verwaltung was one of the central offices of the NSTAP. In the party structure, it stood alongside offices such as the Parteiamt für Politische Führung, the Amt für Außenpolitische Angelegenheiten, the Amt für Ideologische Schulung, and the Amt für Propaganda und Öffentlichkeitsführung.

The office was organized around regional reporting, political supervision, and administrative coordination. It maintained communication with party representatives, regional commanders, and civil administrators working in territories controlled by the regime.

It did not operate as an independent military command. Military and security enforcement remained under bodies such as the Oberkommando der Tanoa Einsatzgruppen, the Allgemeine SS, and the regional Großabschnitte. The office instead handled political oversight and administrative alignment between those regional structures and the central government.

Functions

[edit | edit source]

The Amt für Regionale Politische Verwaltung coordinated the political administration of regions under the authority of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen. Its functions included preparing administrative directives, reviewing reports from regional offices, supervising local party officials, and ensuring that regional administrations followed the political line of the NSTAP.

The office also supported the transfer of instructions between central institutions in Georgetown and the regional Großabschnitte. It helped standardize political administration across territories with different local conditions, including territories governed through puppet administrations, military commands, or collaborator structures.

The office worked with the Amt für Staatliche Rechtsordnung on the application of legal and administrative rules in regional territories. It also coordinated with the Amt für Außenpolitische Angelegenheiten in cases involving puppet governments, foreign intermediaries, and external political contacts connected to regional administration.

Relationship with regional commands

[edit | edit source]

The Amt für Regionale Politische Verwaltung was closely connected to the regional Großabschnitte. These commands handled practical administration, security coordination, and military control inside their assigned regions. The office provided political supervision and helped ensure that each regional command remained aligned with the central party and government structure.

In SS-Großabschnitt Afrika, the office was involved in the coordination of territorial governance and administrative reporting. Similar functions applied to other regional commands, including SS-Großabschnitt Europa, SS-Großabschnitt Nord-Atlantik, SS-Großabschnitt Asien, and SS-Großabschnitt Süd-Atlantik und Pazifik.

Regional commanders and political administrators were expected to send reports through the administrative channels supervised by the office. These reports covered local governance, political reliability, population control, security cooperation, and the implementation of central directives.

Role within the regime

[edit | edit source]

Within the Government of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen, the Amt für Regionale Politische Verwaltung functioned as the principal party office for regional political oversight. It connected the NSTAP leadership with the territorial administration of the regime and helped maintain political uniformity across controlled regions.

The office was part of the wider relationship between party and state under the Tanoan system. While ministries and military commands handled specific administrative, economic, legal, and security functions, the NSTAP used offices such as the Amt für Regionale Politische Verwaltung to supervise political loyalty and administrative consistency.

Its position reflected the importance of regional control within the regime. The office helped central authorities monitor distant territories and keep regional administrations tied to the political structure of the NSTAP.

Dissolution

[edit | edit source]

The Amt für Regionale Politische Verwaltung ceased operations during the collapse of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen in November 2024. Following the death of Eef Paap, the breakdown of central authority, and the dissolution of the NSTAP party structure, the office ended together with the rest of the regime's political administration.

It formally ceased to exist on 30 November 2024.
