The Amt für Regionale Politische Verwaltung (English: Office for Regional Political Administration) was a central political office of the NSTAP within the Government of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen. It supervised political administration in territories controlled by the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen. The office reviewed regional reports and transmitted directives from the central leadership in Georgetown to regional authorities.

The office formed part of the central NSTAP administration. It connected the party leadership with regional commanders and civil administrators. Its authority concerned political supervision and administrative coordination rather than military command.

History

The Amt für Regionale Politische Verwaltung was established in 1944 during the formation of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen and the creation of the NSTAP as its ruling political party. It initially organized political administration on Tanoa and maintained communication between the central leadership and local administrative officials.

As the state expanded, the office assumed responsibility for political administration outside Tanoa. It supported the creation of regional party offices and established reporting channels between territorial authorities and Georgetown. Local party structures used these channels to receive instructions and submit information to the central government.

The office gained a larger role after Eef Paap established the Regional Großabschnitte system in 1980. The new framework divided overseas administration among five geographic commands. The Amt für Regionale Politische Verwaltung became the principal party office responsible for supervising their political administration.

Organization

The Amt für Regionale Politische Verwaltung was one of the central offices of the NSTAP. It operated alongside the Parteiamt für Politische Führung and the Amt für Außenpolitische Angelegenheiten. The same office system included the Amt für Ideologische Schulung and the Amt für Propaganda und Öffentlichkeitsführung.

Regional party representatives submitted administrative reports to the office. Its staff reviewed the material before forwarding it to the appropriate party or government authority. The office also maintained direct communication with regional commanders and civil administrators.

The Amt für Regionale Politische Verwaltung did not issue military orders. Central command authority remained with the Oberkommando der Tanoa Einsatzgruppen. The Allgemeine SS and the Regional Großabschnitte carried out security enforcement and territorial command. The office instead ensured that their political administration remained aligned with NSTAP policy.

Functions

The office prepared administrative directives for regional authorities and reviewed reports submitted by regional offices. It supervised local party officials and recorded whether territorial administrations had implemented instructions from Georgetown.

Central institutions used the office to transmit political instructions to the Regional Großabschnitte. The office adapted these instructions to the administrative system operating in each territory. Some territories were governed through puppet administrations, while others remained under military commands or collaborator structures.

The Amt für Regionale Politische Verwaltung worked with the Amt für Staatliche Rechtsordnung when regional authorities applied legal or administrative rules. It consulted the Amt für Außenpolitische Angelegenheiten when a regional command dealt with a puppet government or foreign political intermediary. The same coordination applied when territorial administration required contact with an external political authority.

The office also reviewed the political reliability of regional officials. Reports from the territories allowed its staff to identify failures to implement central directives and disagreements between local authorities. These findings were passed to the NSTAP leadership and the relevant government offices.

Relationship with regional commands

The Regional Großabschnitte handled territorial administration under the authority of the Oberkommando der Tanoa Einsatzgruppen. Their command staffs directed security coordination and military control within their assigned regions. The Amt für Regionale Politische Verwaltung supervised the political and civil-administrative work conducted through these structures.

The office coordinated territorial governance and administrative reporting within SS-Großabschnitt Afrika. The same reporting system applied to SS-Großabschnitt Europa and SS-Großabschnitt Nord-Atlantik. SS-Großabschnitt Asien and SS-Großabschnitt Süd-Atlantik und Pazifik also submitted their political-administrative reports through the office.

Regional commanders and political administrators reported on local governance and the reliability of subordinate officials. Separate reports recorded population-control measures and cooperation with security institutions. The office also monitored whether regional authorities had implemented directives issued by the central leadership.

Position within the government

Within the Government of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen, the Amt für Regionale Politische Verwaltung served as the principal party office for regional political oversight. It connected the NSTAP leadership with the territorial administration maintained through the Regional Großabschnitte.

Government ministries administered defined areas of state policy, while military commands exercised operational authority. The Amt für Regionale Politische Verwaltung instead supervised political loyalty and the consistency of regional administration. This allowed the central leadership to monitor distant territories without transferring military command to the party office.

Its position reflected the overlap between the NSTAP and the state administration. Regional authorities were required to follow government orders while remaining politically subordinate to the party leadership.

Dissolution

The Amt für Regionale Politische Verwaltung ceased operations during the collapse of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen in November 2024. Communication between Georgetown and the regional commands deteriorated after the death of Eef Paap on 24 November. The subsequent breakdown of central authority ended the office's ability to collect reports or distribute directives.

The dissolution of the NSTAP removed the authority under which the office operated. The Amt für Regionale Politische Verwaltung formally ceased to exist on 30 November 2024 together with the remaining central government institutions.
