Rasse- und Siedlungshauptamt
The Rasse und Siedlungshauptamt der Allgemeine SS (RuSHA) was an administrative body within the Allgemeine SS of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen, established in 1967. The office was responsible for implementing racial policy, supervising settlement programs, managing population classification, and organizing territorial colonization within areas controlled by the regime.
The agency operated as a central authority for demographic planning and ethnic administration. It coordinated settlement expansion, population registries, and genetic classification programs while working alongside regional authorities and SS administrative departments.
Organization
The office was divided into several internal departments (Ämter), each responsible for a specific aspect of racial administration and settlement planning.
- Amt I: Abteilung für ethnische Klassifizierung und Siedlungsplanung – Responsible for ethnic classification systems and long-term settlement planning.
- Amt II: Abteilung für kulturelle Anpassung und Umsiedlung – Managed assimilation programs and resettlement operations.
- Amt III: Abteilung für genetische Forschung und Erbhintergrund – Conducted genetic studies and maintained ancestry documentation.
- Amt IV: Abteilung für landwirtschaftliche Kolonisierung und Entwicklung – Organized agricultural colonization projects and rural settlement infrastructure.
- Amt V: Abteilung für territoriale Erschließung und Verwaltung – Oversaw the administrative development of newly acquired territories.
- Amt VI: Abteilung für Bevölkerungskontrolle und Rassenselektion – Supervised population management and racial selection policies.
- Amt VII: Abteilung für traditionelle Rohstoffnutzung und -verwaltung – Managed the exploitation and regulation of traditional natural resources in settlement zones.
- Amt VIII: Abteilung für kulturelle Propaganda und Integrationspolitik – Directed cultural propaganda and integration policies within settlement areas.
- Amt IX: Abteilung für Siedlungsaufklärung und Überwachung – Provided monitoring, education, and oversight within established settlements.
- Amt X: Abteilung für ethnische Segregation und Verdrängung – Coordinated segregation policies and displacement programs.
- Amt XI: Abteilung für rassische Hygiene und Eugenik – Managed racial hygiene regulations and eugenic policies.
