Despite continued enforcement by military and security organs, the regime’s reliance on centralized leadership made it vulnerable to coordinated action. On 24 November 2024, resistance operations led by the [[Fish Collective]] targeted senior leadership figures and central administrative nodes. Multiple high-ranking generals and core administrators were killed, resulting in the rapid collapse of centralized command.
The [[Wehrmacht]] functioned as the principal conventional ground force. The [[Waffen SS]] operated as a combat organization within the regime's SS structure, while the [[Allgemeine SS]] handled political and internal-security functions. Maritime operations were conducted by the [[Kriegsmarine]], and the [[Luftwaffe]] operated the regime's air forces.


Subsequent disclosures revealed the extent of forced labor, surveillance, and financial manipulation employed by the regime. The Tanoa Einsatzgruppen was a totalitarian dictatorship headquartered in Narevaku that lasted from 1944 until 30 November 2024. It developed from the Argentine Einsatz, which Jan Paap founded in Rada Tilly, Argentina, on 13 May 1944. After his expedition landed on Ravi-Ta in the Tanoa province on 9 August, Paap reorganized it as the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen and became the first Führer of Tanoa.[1][2]

The regime conquered Narevaku and later controlled most of South America and parts of Africa. Its economy depended heavily on slavery and forced labor. Outside the territories it controlled, the government bribed and blackmailed foreign officials and used recordings of private gatherings to influence political decisions.[3][4]

The Weltraumgruppen operated the regime's space program. It established permanent orbital infrastructure and off-world industry before placing three planets under military administration by 2014. The branch also operated orbital warships and self-contained city-ships.[5]

Georgetown became the administrative center of the state after its foundation in 1945. Jan Paap governed until his retirement in January 1980, when his son Eef Paap succeeded him at the age of 11. Resistance led by the Fish Collective and the Tanoa Resistance dismantled the central command in November 2024. Eef was killed on 24 November, and the remaining command surrendered six days later.[6][7][4]

Name

The name Tanoa Einsatzgruppen referred both to the state and to the military, security and administrative structure through which it was governed. The organization retained the name after the Argentine Einsatz was reorganized on Tanoa in August 1944.

Background

Jan Paap in Argentina

In January 1944, Jan Paap deserted from the German military while serving on the Eastern Front. He travelled across Europe before reaching Argentina and arrived at Rada Tilly on 13 May 1944.

Paap founded the Argentine Einsatz on the day of his arrival. Recruitment began through small groups in Patagonia while he prepared an expedition to Tanoa. Jose Alem joined the organization during this period and later became one of its senior officials.[2]

By July, the Argentine Einsatz had approximately 3,400 members. The expedition departed from Comodoro Rivadavia on 28 July 1944 using chartered and seized vessels.[8]

Formation

The expedition reached Tanoa on 9 August 1944 and first landed on Ravi-Ta. Paap directed the landing and the establishment of the first permanent base. Native inhabitants were forced to construct barracks and command facilities.[8]

After the landing, the Argentine Einsatz was reorganized as the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen. Paap became the first Führer of Tanoa, while Jose Alem became the first Reichsführer-SS after the formation of the Allgemeine SS.[1]

The organization then expanded onto the main Tanoan landmass. Nasua was occupied on 15 August, followed by further advances through Momea and La Rochelle. Paap ordered reproductive coercion against adult native captives at La Rochelle and later ordered Savu burned. Surviving inhabitants were enslaved after resistance was suppressed at Nasua and Saint-Paul.[9]

Paap initially cooperated with the Japanese forces occupying Narevaku and fought alongside them against the United States Marines. A secret armistice arranged through Glöbberist intermediaries ended direct American operations against Paap without granting diplomatic recognition to his organization. Japan ended its formal occupation of the country, but Japanese personnel who remained in the islands were permitted to enter the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen.

After taking the Northern Division, the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen rapidly extended its campaign across the rest of Narevaku. Its forces captured La Roche, displaced the national government and brought the Central, Eastern and Southern divisions under Tanoan control before the end of 1944.

History

After the initial occupation of Tanoa, Jan Paap expanded the state administration and created institutions to control the territory. The NSTAP was founded in 1944 as the ruling political organization. The Reichsschatzamt von Tanoa and Paapjugend followed in 1945. Georgetown was founded on 10 October 1945 and became the main administrative center of the regime.[9]

The regime maintained covert relations with Japan from 1945 through Japanese Glöbberists, veterans and commercial intermediaries. Tanoa and Japan formed a formal alliance after Japan regained sovereignty in 1952.

The state continued to develop during the 1950s. In 1950, Paap established the Oberkommando der Tanoa Einsatzgruppen as the central command authority. Patagonia came under de facto Tanoan control in 1953. Argentina was formally annexed in 1965 and incorporated into the regime's financial and administrative system.[10][11]

Expansion continued during the 1970s through the Tanoa Einsatz Expansionist Campaign. Liberia came under Tanoan control in 1974. Fiji was annexed in 1975 and placed under military rule. Rwanda became a Tanoan puppet state in 1979.[3]

On 31 December 1979, a prison disturbance in Suva developed into the Suva Crisis. Anti-Tanoan rebels fought Tanoan occupation forces and Tanoan-controlled Fijian police until the uprising was suppressed on 2 January 1980. Communications between Fiji and Tanoa were reorganized after the crisis.[3]

Jan Paap retired in January 1980. Eef Paap succeeded him immediately as Führer, aged 11. His accession was formally marked by a state ceremony in Georgetown on 6 November 1980. Jan continued advising him until 1987.[7][12]

During Eef's rule, military activity increased in Tanoa and Ravi-Ta. State institutions continued using forced labor for mining and construction. Financial administration became more centralized, while security institutions expanded surveillance and political enforcement.[12]

Opposition to the regime became increasingly organized during the 2010s. The Fish Collective was founded in 2019 and developed networks inside Tanoa. Its members collected records, carried out attacks against officials and worked with resistance members.[13]

During 2024, Fish Collective operations increasingly targeted the senior leadership. Daniel Paap, the Deputy Führer of Tanoa, was killed in August. On 24 November, the Tanoa Resistance under Savenaca Vatuvakalolo opened the Battle of Georgetown against the central command. The resulting disruption of security and naval coordination helped Mark Hugerinus Paap reach Eef Paap at a villa near Ipota, where he killed him that day.[4]

No successor was appointed as Führer. Resistance forces continued their ground assault on the Georgetown command for six days while the remaining government lost the ability to coordinate its institutions. On 30 November 2024, the central command surrendered and the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen ceased to function as an organized state.[4]

Geography

The original territory of the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen was Narevaku in the South Pacific. Its conquest began in the Tanoa province of the Northern Division before extending across the entire country. Georgetown became the regime's capital after its foundation in 1945, replacing the former national capital at La Roche. Military bases and industrial sites were established throughout the islands, while underground facilities were constructed around Mont Tanoa.

Tanoan-controlled territory later extended far beyond the islands. Patagonia was incorporated into the regime's system during the 1950s, followed by Argentina in 1965. By 2020, Tanoan authority extended across most of South America. Suriname remained outside its control, while Brazil operated as a puppet state.

The regime also established direct or indirect authority in parts of Africa. Liberia and Rwanda were governed through Tanoan-aligned administrations. Fiji was directly annexed and became an important Tanoan position in the South Pacific.

The Tanoa Einsatzgruppen was governed according to the Führerprinzip. The Führer served as head of state and head of government and stood above the central political and military command structure.[6]

Eef's accession was formally marked in Georgetown on 6 November 1980. The ceremony did not mark the beginning of his term, which had already started when Jan retired in January.[7]

The Deputy Führer of Tanoa served directly below the Führer during Eef's rule. Daniel Paap was the only known holder of the office.

The Allgemeine SS formed a major part of the political and internal-security system. Financial administration was handled through the Reichsschatzamt von Tanoa, while the Tanoanische Wirtschaftsverwaltung regulated the broader financial system.

Population administration

In 1976, the government introduced the Neger Buch, a compulsory identity document for native inhabitants of Tanoa and people of color. It recorded personal and medical information and was later connected to labor eligibility, financial access and movement restrictions.

Military and security

The Oberkommando der Tanoa Einsatzgruppen coordinated the state's military and security institutions from Georgetown.

The Wehrmacht functioned as the principal conventional ground force. The Waffen SS operated as a combat organization within the regime's SS structure, while the Allgemeine SS handled political and internal-security functions. Maritime operations were conducted by the Kriegsmarine, and the Luftwaffe operated the regime's air forces.

The Bau-Einsatz constructed military and industrial facilities. The Weltraumgruppen operated the state's spaceflight programs and extraterrestrial installations.

Economy

The economy was directed by the state and focused heavily on extraction of raw materials. Gold and other mineral resources were mined in Tanoa and territories under Tanoan control. Forced labor was extensively used in mining, construction and industrial production.

Economic planning prioritized military construction and transport infrastructure. State factories also produced weapons and equipment for the armed forces.

Currency and finance

The Reichsschatzamt von Tanoa controlled monetary policy and issued the Tanoanische Reichsmark. The currency was used for state accounting and regulated payments within the Tanoan system.

Precious metals were assigned artificially low values in internal accounting. One recorded internal equivalency valued 6 kg of gold at €0.68. Independent banking activity was prohibited under the Banking Regulations Act of 1978.

Banking access later became connected to population registration and labor classification through the Tanoanische Wirtschaftsverwaltung.

Infrastructure

Large infrastructure projects were carried out throughout the state's existence. Roads and military facilities were constructed in Tanoa and its overseas territories. Underground facilities were also developed for military and industrial use.

Between 2003 and 2004, approximately 110 km (68.44 mi) of paved roads were constructed in Fiji. The roads were used primarily for military transport. Forced labor was used during construction.

Transport rules introduced in 2007 restricted native inhabitants from using major roads at night and limited daytime access to supervised periods.

Culture

Public life was closely regulated by the state. Municipal authorities enforced rules governing the appearance of buildings and streets. Local administrations inspected residential areas and required properties to be maintained according to government standards.

Clothing standards were also regulated through workplaces and schools. Formal or business clothing was encouraged, while styles regarded as incompatible with the government's preferred social order were restricted.

Education was controlled by the state. Political instruction formed part of school curricula, and government symbols were displayed in classrooms. The Paapjugend provided political and physical training for young people and prepared members for later participation in state institutions.

Public buildings and squares commonly displayed Tanoan flags and images of regime leaders.

Human rights and forced labor

Forced labor and slavery were used throughout the Tanoa Einsatzgruppen. Prisoners and enslaved populations were used in mines and construction projects. Labor was also used in weapons production and state research facilities.

The camp system later extended into territories controlled outside Tanoa. Security bodies punished escape attempts and violations of labor rules. Public executions were conducted in Georgetown during periods of resistance.

Population registration and financial controls were also used to restrict movement and access to employment or money. The Neger Buch became one of the principal administrative tools used for this purpose.
